Picture: Grilling shrimp – the easiest recipe is also the most tasty one. The shrimp here were grilled and decorated with vegetables. Grilling bigger shrimp with shell can be an advantage.
Grilled shrimp are an excellent appetizer at every barbecue and easy to make. Yet, they very nutrious and will let your hunger calm down until longer lasting barbecue preparations are ready.
If you are making shrimp as an appetiser, why not serve it with a sweet sticky dipping sauce and a sprinkle of paprika to give it an extra kick? It is quick and easy to prepare, so while your shrimp are grilling, you have time to make the sauce, or, you can just relax and play a game of cheekybingo and enjoy a 10 minute break. To make the dipping sauce, simply combine soy sauce, soft brown sugar, white wine vinegar and a splash of sherry.
Ingredients
Shrimp, as much as you like, the larger, the better
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Your preferred spices, sauces, marinade, honey
1 lemon
Directions
When it comes to grilling shrimp, larger shrimp are generally more practicable. Jumbo shrimp are a good idea, you even could deveine and butterfly them.I myself usually do not bother with deveining, unless the shrimp are served on more formal occasions. If shrimp are brined before, you can improve flavor even if grilling them without shell.
If your grill is at medium heat it will be perfectly ok for the shrimp. even if not making a marinade it is always a good idea to crush some garlic and herbs (spices of your choice), mix it with the oil and toss the shrimp until they are coated with the mixture.
Grill the shrimp for a short time on every side, 3-5 minutes will do it, depending on their size.
Tips
Shrimp should be usually be combined with a dry white wine and grilled shrimp are no exception. If you do not have a grill at the ready, rather go for fried shrimp. Goes very well in summer with grilled salmon!
